St Ann Development Company (SADCO) proved they will be a force to be reckoned with in the Sandals Resorts International St Ann/St Mary Business House Football Competition by edging highly rated Beaches Ocho Rios 1-0 in an action-packed encounter at Drax Hall on Friday. Demar Stone scored a peach of a goal in the first half to seal the issue. The wily striker collected a pass inside the 18-yard box before thundering a vicious shot past the hapless Beaches goalkeeper. The match, however, was an evenly contested affair with SADCO employing a slick short passing game to counter the speedy Beaches aggregation. Both teams had a number of good chances, but failed to convert. In the other match played on Friday, Police recorded their first win of the competition by defeating Sandals Ochi 3-1 in a match the hotel men had been expected to dominate. Sandals Ochi’s midfielder Roy Ricketts continued his rich vein of form by scoring in his second consecutive match. Another big double-header will take place today at Drax Hall as C & J Enterprise tackle Margaritaville MoBay at 4 p.m. C & J coach Gregory Brown will be hoping that goalkeeper Shamar Beckford and top players Bebeto Brown and Rushane Jarrett report in top form. In the main encounter at 6 p.m., the big guns Gran Bahai Principe and the North East Regional Health Authority (NERHA), will meet in a clash of unbeaten teams. Gran Bahai will as start favourites, but word is that the NERHA team will be going all out to upset the apple cart.
