It was the back injury first and Pandya recovered to join the Indian team in Australia during the Test series. However, before the ODI series, a Koffee with Karan episode featuring him and KL Rahul aired and a major controversy erupted.Hardik faced a massive backlash on social media for his “sexist and misogynistic” remarks on the show and he and Rahul were suspended and called back to India. Their suspensions were lifted on January 24 pending appointment of an ombudsman and Hardik Pandya was back in the thick of things. However, it seems people are not yet ready to forgive Hardik completely for his offensive statements. During the second T20I against New Zealand in Auckland, a female spectator was seen holding a banner that said “Pandya Aaj Karke Aaya Kya? [Pandya, did you do it today?]”. This placard was in reference to Hardik’s statement on the chat show regarding his virginity, where he said he told his parents, “mai karke aaya [I did it today].”give this lady a Bharat Ratna#INDvNZ pic.twitter.com/PQA8KtGNFBSunil- The cricketer (@1sInto2s) February 8, 2019A video of the woman holding the banner is also doing rounds on social media.@BCCI @hardikpandya7 #INDvNZ #AskStar #akashvani @karanjohar @klrahul11 pic.twitter.com/ID9JdByGVoManraj Randhawa (@manrajr9) February 8, 2019Hardik contributed with a wicket in Auckland – one of Colin de Grandhomme right after he scored a fifty. But the most important thing is discipline. Every at this stage of his career, Mahi bhai is never late for anything. He follows the process that brought him success rigorously during practice even now. He knows what suits him and what doesn’t,” Rishabh Pant told Sports Tak.Rishabh Pant and MS Dhoni joined hands to help India beat New Zealand in a T20I match earlier this year. With unbeaten knocks of 40 and 20, respectively, the big-hitting duo helped shone with the bat.Pant said playing with a calm Dhoni helped him learn the art of managing the pressure in cruch match situations.”In New Zealand. Mahi bhai calculated his innings really well. I got the opportunity to learn that aspect of the game when we batted together in New Zealand. You can practice how much ever you went, but the pressure of match situation is very different. But when I see him, he is calm all the time. He knows what needs to be done in that situation,” Rishabh Pant said.”His planning is very good. He is being consistent with his plans, that’s bringing him success. His plans work out 80 to 90 percent of the times.”advertisementRishabh Pant also praised Virat Kohli and said the India captain has taught him to learn from the mistakes.”I still remember what Virat Kohli told me. World Cup 2019: Media boycotts interaction with Team India

first_imgWorld Cup 2019: Media boycotts interaction with Team IndiaIndian media contingent which turned up for a press conference, 2 days before the team’s 1st match of World Cup 2019, was left bemused when they were informed that net bowlers Avesh Khan and Deepak Chahar would be addressing the sessionadvertisement Press Trust of India SouthamptonJune 3, 2019UPDATED: June 3, 2019 23:10 IST Indian cricketers after a session of paintball (Twitter: @BCCI)HIGHLIGHTSIndian media contingent decided to boycott a interaction session with net bowlersIt was expected that at least coach Ravi Shastri or a senior player or support staff would address the mediaDuring 2015 WC skipper MS Dhoni would come for every post-match interaction instead of day’s performerThere is something about ICC World Cups where inevitably the relationship between Indian media and the national team becomes frosty. It wasn’t great during the 2015 World Cup in Australia and New Zealand and the start seemed to have been on a discordant note during this edition as well after the Indian media contingent decided to boycott an interaction session with net bowlers Deepak Chahar, Avesh Khan, and Khaleel Ahmed. With two days left for India’s first game against South Africa, it was expected that at least coach Ravi Shastri or a senior player or support staff would address the media as it has been the norm in any bilateral series with skipper Virat Kohli coming on the pre-match day. However, to everyone’s disbelief, Indian team’s media manager informed the waiting journalists that since Chahar and Avesh are going back on Tuesday (Khaleel is staying back), it was felt that they should get an opportunity to interact with the media.Livid with decision, senior members of the fraternity protested vehemently to this outrageous idea and he was told that if the team wants to cancel the session, they are free to do so as it is unfair both for the media as well as the two youngsters, who don’t have any authority to answer team related queries. When asked why no player or support staff was made available, the media manager said that it was done since India haven’t started its World Cup campaign yet.The logic didn’t seem convincing as it has never happened two days before a marquee event. It seemed more like a case where the Indian media was being told that you have to make do with whatever we make available for you.advertisementThis seemed to be in complete contrast with the relationship that the jumbo Bangladeshi media share with their ‘Tigers’ or even the handful of Pakistani journalists with their players. Many were reminded of the 2015 World Cup, when there was a complete gag on media save pre and post-match days and skipper Dhoni would come for every post-match interaction instead of day’s performer, who would be interviewed by the official BCCI website.Bumrah called for a random dope test: The Indian players may have had issues with NADA conducted dope tests but at the global event, there’s no such problem. On Monday, it was the turn of premier pacer Jasprit Bumrah, who was picked up for the random test conducted by the WADA accredited agency. There is no specific system that is followed and it could be anybody who could be called for providing their urine sample.Rohit takes a knock during throwdowns, carries on without fuss: Rohit Sharma in full flow is a treat to watch even during training sessions and the Indian bowlers were seen getting a taste of their vice-captain’s touch ahead of the first game against South Africa.Rohit looked in perfect control as he hooked Mohammed Shami behind square and Khaleel Ahmed was pulled in front of the square as they both tried to test him with short balls. But the maximum punishment was reserved for Yuzvendra Chahal, who was dispatched into stands on more than one occasion. However, there was a fleeting moment of a scare when he started taking throwdowns at the other net where a ball took off awkwardly and hit him on the gloves. For a couple of minutes, he seemed in some pain as the support staff rushed to check on him. It seemed fine as he continued batting without any discomfort after that. Also Read | India’s home season from September 15 with Freedom Series versus South AfricaAlso Read | World Cup 2019: Indian football team sends good wishes to Indian cricket team’s wayFor sports news, updates, live scores and cricket fixtures, log on to indiatoday.in/sports. While that should have ended, or at least slowed down, the series of rumours and leaks about the Pixel 3 successor, but it hasn’t. And now, a new image renders of the Pixel 4 smartphone indicate that the phone would sport big front bezels and that it would come with hand gesture control.Images of the front panel of the Google Pixel 4 shared by noted tipster Ice Universe contains number of cutouts in the top bezel of the smartphone. The top bezels, as the Verge reports, would be thicker than a lot popular Android phones such as the Samsung Galaxy S10 Plus and the OnePlus 7 Pro which would cover a variety of sensors and front camera that would have remained hidden had Google opted for a pop-up camera or a notch.Another report by 9To5 Google indicates that the cutouts in the forehead bezels would house two front-facing cameras and a speaker. The third cut out is likely to be there for the face recognition technology – a feature the Google Pixel 4 is likely to be equipped with. The fourth cutout on the right corner of the top bezel is expected to house the Soli radar chip, which would enable the users to use hand gestures to access various controls on the Pixel 3 successor. The oval opening of the Pixel 4 Series front panel means that the Google Pixel 4 Series will be groundbreaking and new and worth looking forward to. pic.twitter.com/9Pg9bGcWrsadvertisementIce universe (@UniverseIce) July 20, 2019Apart from the image of the Pixel 4 front panel shared by the tipster, Steve H McFly and iGeeksBlog also shared detailed renders of the upcoming smartphone that show a design similar to the one highlighted in the images by Ice Universe, which is thick top bezels and thin bezels at the bottom. Something’s Brewing in Queens at Singlecut

first_img The New Land Rover Defender Is Just as Glorious as We Expected On December 8th the first microbrewery to open in Queens since prohibition opened its doors.Yes, we know – a brewery! Singlecut is housed in 5,000 square feet of awesomeness where fans can find a production facility and tap room as well as a live music stage on the north side of Astoria, near the historic Steinway & Sons factory.Opened by Queens native, Rich Buceta, the destination has become a hot hangout for locals and from Thursday to Sunday the entire space is open for tours. Beer lovers can also come get a growler, grab a meat pie and listen to some live music. When live bands aren’t on stage one can expect to hear some vinyl and classic rock, befitting an all American beer hall. What sets Singlecut apart is its focus on lagers. “Most craft beers focus on ales because they are cheaper and easier to make,” explains Rich, “but we wanted to change peoples’ perception on lagers.” He continues, “People think of their grandfathers’ beers when they think of lagers: PBR, Bud, Coors, Miller, but we are making them more full bodied and adding a little excitement to that category.”The guys bought two horizontal lagering tanks, whereas most buy a vertical tank,  then let the beer mature for a minimum of two weeks. They make hoppy ales too since that is what many people are used to but we suggest going in and sampling what they do best, a full bodied lager. But steady on, don’t be that guy rocking out solo at the end of the bar shouting for Skynyrd. But “cools toys for boys and girls” doesn’t have the same rhyme quality to it, and this is The Manual, dammit, so let’s just go with it. Also, at the time of this writing, I only have one kid who happens to be a boy. If you’re reading this after March 2018, though, I’ll have a daughter too (hey, thanks!), so I may amend the title down the line.Steven John/The ManualSteven John/The ManualLet me assure you that the toys we’re discussing today were carefully selected after a rigorous testing process involving a four-year-old boy playing with them for hours on end, day after day, for weeks and even months, which is like years in an adult’s frame of reference. These are not random things I spotted online during a half-assed, 10-minute search — each of these toys are genuine  favorites in our house, and they will surely rise to the top of the proverbial toy basket in yours.Magna-Tiles All 21 Six Flags Parks in the U.S., Ranked Our son got his first set of Magna-Tiles when he was just shy of two. Then, he could barely separate a pair of squares that became stuck together, and it was not until a few months after his second birthday that he was building rudimentary cubes and prisms. Flash forward two years, and he can now spend an hour constructing elaborate parking garages (they’re always parking garages … I don’t really know where that started) that he will then fill with matchbox cars and little figurines. 1 of 2 Previous Nope. The kid was following the step-by-step programming and building projects within minutes. Within a few hours, Ben was coming up with his own experiments, using the various “blocks” (which consist of things like an LED light panel, a mini speaker, and a Bluetooth enabled widget) to create original projects that he managed to program using the app with minimal help from his mom. I would not recommend this toy for a child younger than four, but would heartily recommend it for age four through death. The Inventor Kit sells for $120, and is but one of many sets the brand offers for a variety of ages.See it Previous Here’s how it works: Each month, your child receives a package filled with an activity booklet, photos, stickers, mini books, souvenirs, and other items all tied to a theme. These include world landmarks, oceans, and more, and many of the kits relate to and expand upon earlier packages. The first month’s Traveler Kit, for example, has a large map that clearly depicts the continents and oceans and teaches kids (and parents) all about how Little Passports works. The second package takes a deep dive (heh) into the world’s oceans. And whoa, OK, side bar — I am not making this up. Just now, at the time of writing this very article, my son knocked on the office door and came in to say, “There’s this really cool Little Passports ocean experiment me and mommy just did, do you want to come and see it?” Which, of course, I did. Turns out they were learning about salinity in oceans and the resulting buoyancy of the water. Through the lens of Little Passports, science, social studies, and geography are made so exciting to young children that they have to interrupt their dad’s work just to tell them. Which is fine by me. Early Explorers package (ages three to five years old) start at $17 per month and are discounted when you sign up for a full year. Our son and just about every other kid I know has been playing with BRIO trains (or with Melissa & Doug trains, or one of the other few varieties wooden track toys, almost all of which are compatible) from the early toddler years well into their elementary years. BRIO trains are great for two reasons, though the second one comes with a caveat. Next Editors’ Recommendations Next First, the basic sets are so easy to use that even very young kids will enjoy them. Second, there are so many different expansion kits out there that BRIO trains play can become ever more complex and involved, keeping kids engaged even as they grow older. The issue is that you are going to spend a lot of money on these things over the years/ We suggest starting with the $40 My First Railway Beginner Pack.See itMakeblock Neuron Inventor KitSteven John/The ManualSteven John/The ManualThis one was a stretch for us, as Makeblock Neuron Inventor Kits are recommended for kids starting at age six (ours is four, to refresh your memory), and even though Ben has always had an interest in, and an aptitude, for all things mechanical, robotic, digital, and so forth, I thought that a toy involving programming and coding via iPad app (or tablet or computer) and constructing multi-component devices that are controlled by said programming might be a bit too much. And I will readily admit that even at age 35 these things are lots of fun to play with, so don’t let their rather steep price tag throw you — you’ll get your money’s worth. I mean … your kid will get your money’s worth. They help develop fine motor skills, spatial reasoning, and might tease out some of the skills nascent in a budding structural engineer. The 100-piece set sells for $120 on Amazon and is worth every penny.See itLittle PassportsSteven John/The ManualSteven John/The ManualI have to admit I was a bit skeptical about Little Passports at first. There seemed to be a lot of material a child would need to absorb before the fun could actually start, what with new characters (who serve as global guides) to get to know, maps to study, activity books to be read and digested, and so forth. Frankly, the whole process looked more like school work than play time to me. But apparently the people behind this thoroughly researched and carefully curated program knew what they were doing.
